June 11, 2010 Psalms 27:7-31:5

27. Continued. David asked God to hear him and be merciful to him. He heard his heart seeking the face of God. Though his father and mother abandon him, he knew God would not. David expressed confidence that he would see the goodness of God in the land of the living.

28. A prayer of help. As David called to the Lord he lifted up his hands. He asked for protection from his enemies who were nice to their neighbors while secretly despising them. Because they have no regard for the works of God, He will tear them down. David was joyful because of the help God gave him. He asked God to bless His people and carry them forever.

29. The Lord of the thunderstorm. All glory, strength and honor belong to God. The God of glory thunders. His voice is everywhere, over the waters, in the forests, in the desert, over the people. His voice is powerful and majestic and He blesses His people with peace.

30. The Lord is my helper. David described what God did to save him from his enemies. God's anger lasts only a moment, but his favor lasts a lifetime. David asked what good it would do if he died, because then he couldn't praise God. David gave all credit to God for turning his wailing into dancing, and clothing him with joy. David promised to praise God forever.

31. My times are in thy hand. David took refuge in God and asked for His protection. He asked God to hear his prayers. God was his rock and fortress, and he asked God to lead and guide him. He committed his spirit to God and asked him to save him. David called God the God of truth.
