18. Continued. David gave credit to God for his success in battle. David knew that God had given him what he had - his possessions and responsibilities. David praised God who had his back.
19. The works and word of God. The skies continually tell of the wonders of God. Day after day, night after night, though they never speak a word, their message informs everyone on the planet that God is there. God has made the heavens like a tent for the sun, enclosing it's heat on the earth. God's law is perfect, giving us life and light and joy. There is great reward in keeping God's commandments. David asked God to keep him from sin. He hoped his offering of song and thoughts were pleasing to God.
20. A prayer for the king. David asked for help from God for guidance and protection. He also hoped for God to accept his sacrifices and burnt offerings. He asked for the desires of his heart to be granted and his plans to succeed. He would know the reason for his success was that God had allowed it. David knew that God had saved him and answers prayers. He knew some people put their trust in their horses and chariots, but he put his trust in God. His enemies were made weak while he was strong.
21. Splendor and success of the king. God blessed David lavishly. He granted him the desire of his heart (and why not, since his heart's desire was to please God?) David was given material wealth as well as a prosperous kingdom. He was protected from his enemies as he praised God.
Tomorrow read Psalms 22-24:6
